Agartala, July 2: In pursuit of transforming India into a digital powerhouse, the government recognizes the pivotal role of equipping young minds with essential digital skills. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a “Digital India” hinges on empowering the youth to navigate the digital landscape effectively. To achieve this, both central and state governments are collaborating to provide support.

The recently launched Mukhyamantri Yuva Yogajog Yojana (Special) aims to bridge the digital divide. Under this initiative, 12,000 undergraduate students from the 2022-23 academic year will receive financial assistance of Rs. 5,000 each to purchase smartphones. This move seeks to enhance connectivity, digital literacy, and access to information for the youth.

Information Technology Minister Pranajit Singha Roy inaugurated the project at the Information Technology Bhawan. Notably, over 40,000 students in the state have already benefited from similar assistance, but the 2022-23 batch was previously excluded. With this special intervention, the government strives to empower the next generation, fostering a truly inclusive and digitally adept India.
