Kidney transplant to start at GBP hospital soon, says CM

Asserting that the state government has been working on making the state as a health hub, Chief Minister Manik Saha on Tuesday said kidney transplant to kick start at GBP hospital and AGMC shortly.“There has been persistent demand for introducing kidney transplant facility in GBP hospital and AGMC. Our doctors and paramedical staffers have got training in renal replacement therapy from a Manipur based hospital. Patients are also ready for undergoing surgical procedure. We will start kidney transplant facility soon”, he said.The Chief Minister, who was on a whirlwind visit to North and Unakoti district to inaugurate some projects, was speaking after inaugurating newly built Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Kanchanbari.Saha said the government has already initiated a process to open seven super speciality departments at GBP hospital. “While six Asst Professors have already been appointed, appointments for 18 Professors and Associate Professors are still on. Currently, nephrology, urology, cardio thorasic and cardiovascular departments are functioning in GBP hospital”, he said.Saying that steps have been taken to appoint medical officers, the Chief Minister said he had already demanded to set up an AIIMS like hospital in the state to boost the healthcare service.
