Assam Rifles and Customs Department seize foreign cigarettes worth ₹1.95 crore in Khowai district

Agartala: Mar 15: Assam Rifles and the Customs Department have made a significant breakthrough in their efforts to curb smuggling activities in the region. Following a tip-off, they conducted a joint operation in the Khowai district, resulting in the seizure of 195 cartons of foreign cigarettes worth approximately ₹1.95 crore.

The operation was part of the ongoing efforts to combat cross-border smuggling and illegal trade. Assam Rifles received credible intelligence about the illegal consignment, leading to the confiscation of the smuggled cigarettes. These cigarettes are often brought into India without proper customs clearance.
