After the recent conviction of four culprits including a police officer, in the sensational Bodhisatya murder case, the West Tripura District and Session judge has delivered the verdict on their punishment. The convicts have been sentenced with life imprisonment and ordered to pay a fine of Rs 50,000 each. Samrat Kar Bhowmik, the special public prosecutor, informed the press that failure to pay the fine would result in a three-month extension of their sentence.

During the early hours of August, in August 04, 2019, Bodhisatya Das,a banker by profession, was brutally murdered near Jackson Gate in Agartala. Police took prompt action and arrested the Prime accused: Sumit Chowdhury, Sumit Banik, police sub-inspector Sukanta Biswas, and Omar Sharif, also known as Shoaib in connection with the case.

Expressing gratitude to the state forensic science laboratory and the Central Forensic Science Laboratory in Chandigarh, Bhowmik emphasized the vital role played by both institutions in assisting the prosecution in proving the guilt of the accused individuals.

According to Bhowmik, the state forensic science laboratory analyzed blood samples collected from the scooter and the murder weapon, both belonging to Soheb Miah, the person responsible for fatally stabbing the victim. The analysis revealed a match between the samples, providing concrete evidence of Miah's involvement in the crime.

Additionally, the Central Forensic Science Laboratory in Chandigarh examined a video statement made by the deceased before his death. The defense had claimed that the video was tampered with. However, after examination by the Central Forensic Science Laboratory, all doubts were dismissed, further strengthening the prosecution's case
