Agartala: May 09: A closed-door meeting with various security forces was held on Friday at the official residence of Tripura Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha to review the security situation and enhance surveillance along the India-Bangladesh border.
The meeting lasted for over an hour and brought together senior officials from the Border Security Force (BSF), Assam Rifles, Tripura Police, Tripura State Rifles (TSR), and top officers from different intelligence agencies. The primary agenda of the meeting was to assess the current border security scenario and implement stronger monitoring mechanisms in light of the growing regional tensions.
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha stressed the need for increased coordination between state and central forces to ensure effective surveillance along Tripura's 856-kilometer-long border with Bangladesh, much of which remains sensitive and partially unfenced. The officials discussed strategies for preventing illegal cross-border activities, including smuggling and infiltration, and explored ways to enhance inter-agency information sharing.
Additional precautionary measures, including round-the-clock patrols and increased vigilance at key entry points such as railway stations, highways, and the state airport, have been put in place. The security agencies were also directed to intensify operations in vulnerable areas and border villages.
The high-level meeting reflects the state government’s proactive approach to safeguarding its borders amid escalating tensions in the region. Further coordination meetings and reviews are expected in the coming days to ensure continued readiness and security across the state.
