Agartala, Mar. 17 : A GST Superintendent identified as Hemanta Roy was killed in mysterious circumstances at Dharmanagar under North Tripura district on Monday. He was found lying in a pool of blood at the road leading to his office.

Fire brigade troopers shifted him to North Tripura district hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. The deceased had sustained grave injuries on his head and he was bleeding profusely. The on-duty doctors said during the medical examinations he found no signs of life.

“It is presumed that the deceased had suffered injuries due to a road traffic incident. None of the vital signs could be detected during the primary examination and hence he was declared brought dead. Now, with the approval of the police, we are planning to conduct the post mortem examination to ascertain the main reason of death,” an on duty doctor informed media persons.

Source said that the passer-bys on the road informed the fire brigade troopers when they noticed Roy lying on the road. “We have received an urgent call from Kali Dighi Para. We went there and rescued the injured person who had been declared dead soon after being shifted to the hospital,” a Fire brigade trooper said.

No one among those who had raised the alarm could exactly remember how Roy was injured. None of the locals could identify the vehicle which had allegedly hit the deceased and ran away.

According to official sources, Roy originally hails from Silchar, Assam. He had been staying at Dharmanagar for the last one year ever since he had assumed the charge of GST superintendent at Dharmanagar branch office
