National Level Strategy Workshop on FPOs Inaugurated by NABARD in Agartala

Agartala, Tripura - November 29: The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) kicked off a three-day "National Level Strategy Workshop on FPO" on November 29, 2023, at Hotel Polo Towers, Agartala. Dr. A K Sood, Deputy Managing Director at NABARD, Head Office, Mumbai, inaugurated the event, marking the beginning of collaborative discussions aimed at enhancing the efficiency and sustainability of Farmers' Producer Organizations (FPOs).
The inaugural ceremony witnessed the presence of key dignitaries, including Shri Loken Das, General Manager, NABARD, Tripura Regional Office, Agartala, and Shri M K De, General Manager, NABARD, Head Office, Mumbai. Additionally, 32 participants from various Regional Offices of NABARD, FPO Consultants, and Producers Organization Promoting Institutions (POPI) from different states were in attendance.
The workshop serves as a comprehensive platform, fostering collaboration between NABARD officers and representatives from POPI across the North-eastern states. The agenda revolves around in-depth discussions on policy intricacies, FPO digitization, the exchange of best practices, and crucial aspects of credit and market linkages vital for the sustainable growth of FPOs. Special sessions focused on the millet value chain, showcasing the potential of diversifying agricultural practices for enhanced productivity and sustainability.
One of the highlights of the workshop was the sharing of success stories by representatives from various FPOs. These narratives provided valuable insights into the transformative impact of collective farming initiatives, highlighting the resilience and entrepreneurial spirit of farmers. The stories underscored the pivotal role FPOs play in shaping the agricultural landscape.
NABARD reiterated its commitment to supporting and catalyzing the growth of FPOs, recognizing their essential role in ensuring the prosperity of farmers and fostering inclusive agricultural development. The workshop is poised to facilitate a vibrant exchange of ideas and experiences, further strengthening the collaborative efforts towards the sustainable development of agriculture in the region.
