Police Arrest Accused in Animal Cruelty Case

Agartala: Mar 15: Teliamura police have arrested Biswapkha Jamatia, also known as Badarhari, in connection with the alleged killing of a dog in Gorjantali Hadrai Para on March 11. The incident, which involved the brutal beating of the animal, came to light through a viral video shared on social media.
The act of cruelty sparked widespread outrage, with various social organizations, including POSM and K-Nine, demanding strict action against the accused. Dr. Ranbir Roy and representatives of these organizations filed formal complaints with the police and administration. Tipramatha party leader Pradyut Kishore also expressed concern over the incident on social media.
In response, the Teliamura police launched an investigation and formed a team to locate the accused, who had gone into hiding. On Saturday, around noon, the police successfully apprehended Biswapkha Jamatia. Authorities have confirmed that the accused will be presented in Khowai court on Sunday.
The case has drawn significant attention, highlighting the need for stringent measures against animal cruelty.
