Agartala: Dec 04: Today, a delegation from the Tribal Students Federation (TSF), led by General Secretary Hamulu Jamatia, submitted a deputation to the Governor at the Raj Bhavan regarding the state government's plan to hand over Pushpavanta Palace to the Taj Group. TSF has expressed strong opposition to this decision, arguing that the palace, a significant historical and cultural landmark, should not be converted into a commercial hotel. Instead, they propose that the state government consider constructing a hotel at a different location to preserve the heritage of the Pushpavanta Palace.

In a statement to the media, Hamulu Jamatia emphasized that while TSF does not object to the development of tourism or the construction of a hotel, they believe that the Palace, with its cultural value, should not be repurposed for such commercial use. Jamatia further pointed out the importance of protecting the region’s heritage and ensuring that development does not come at the cost of erasing significant landmarks.

The Governor assured the TSF delegation that their concerns would be communicated to the state government. He acknowledged the importance of addressing the issue thoughtfully and promised to engage with the relevant authorities on behalf of the delegation. This move marks a significant step in the ongoing discussions about the future of the Pushpavanta Palace and the balance between development and heritage preservation in the state.
