Agartala: Feb 11: On Tuesday, the TSU submitted a deputation to the Tribal Welfare Department with a three-point demand, including making alternative arrangements for students who could not fill out scholarship forms for higher education and regularly filling vacant posts in ST hostels.
The organization's general secretary, Sajit Debbarma, mentioned that despite two parties, Tiprassa Daradi and Janajati Daradi, running the government in the state, tribal students are facing various problems daily. Among these, the issue of scholarships has been a long-standing concern that remains unresolved.
Debbarma highlighted that several deputations have been submitted, yet the scholarship problem persists, indicating the government's lack of concern for the people. Many students were unable to fill out the forms on time, by November, due to the portal being closed, while the portals for OBC and AC students remain open. He questioned why there are different rules for different sections of people under the Bharatiya Janata Party government at the Center and in the state. As a result, many tribal students could not fill out the scholarship forms.
Therefore, the TSU has demanded alternative arrangements for these students and the regular filling of vacant posts in ST hostels.
