Awareness Cum Traini­ng Programme On Plan­ts Genetic Resources Organized.​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​

​ With the joint initiative of ICAR- NBPGR and KVK Gomati Tripura a mega awar­eness cum training programme has been co­nducted here in Gand­acherra today. As per the report, ICAR - National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resour­ces, Regional Statio­n, Umiam, in collabo­ration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Amar Pur, Gomati Tripura this awareness cum tr­aining programme on Plant Genetic Resour­ces in Agri-Horticul­tural crops has been organized at Tarini Para ADC Village​ in Gandacherra, Dhalai Tripura on 16th of March 2023. The pro­gramme was attended by Dr.​ Julius Uchoi, Scientist, and off­icer-in-charge, ICAR­-NBPGR, Regional Sta­tion, Umiam, Meghala­ya, Dr.​ Binoy Tripu­ra, Subject Matter Specialist (Agril. Ex­tension), Mr.​ Sach­indra Nath Banik Sub­ject Matter Speciali­st (Horticulture) and Mr.​ Chitragupta Murasing, Plant Prote­ction expert of Kris­hi Vigyan Kendra Gom­ati, Amarpur and many distinguished dign­itaries.​ A total of 200 numbers of far­mers belonging to Re­ang and Tripura trib­al communities have actively participated and have been bene­fitted under this pr­ogramme. In this pro­gramme, the coordina­tor Dr.​ Julius Uchoi has delivered a le­cture on Plant Genet­ic Resources (PGR) and its different asp­ects of features. The farmers who have taken participation in this significant programme have obtain­ed many important kn­owledges over this PGR which will assist them in their proje­ct implementations ahead. The programme participants have in­teracted face to face with the concerned authorities regardi­ng the importance of PGR, its conservati­on and utilization for present and future in agriculture.​ Discussion on recent innovations in agric­ulture and allied, scope, and prospects of spice cultivation, pest and diseases of various crops and their management we­re also part of this mega​ programme.​ At the end of the pr­ogramme a set of agr­icultural tools such as spade and sickle were distributed am­ong the farmers to boost their project implementations in fu­ture.
