Former MLA Burmohan Tripura Passes Away at 79, Leaders Pay Tribute

Agartala, May 10 – Former MLA Burmohan Tripura, a respected leader from Tripura, passed away on Saturday at the age of 79 after a prolonged battle with cancer. He breathed his last at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Regional Cancer Hospital, where he had been undergoing treatment.

Burmohan Tripura was a former elected representative from the Korbuk Assembly constituency, having won the seat in 2018 on a BJP ticket. Known for his humility and dedication, he made noteworthy contributions to the development of his region, earning deep respect among his constituents.

Following his demise, his mortal remains were brought to the Tripura Legislative Assembly, where a ceremonial tribute was held. Several prominent leaders and dignitaries gathered to pay their final respects, including Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, MLAs Sudip Roy Barman, Deepak Majumdar, and Minister of State Brishketu Debbarma. Floral tributes were offered as a mark of respect and remembrance.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Sushanta Chowdhury remembered him as a simple and humble individual who always prioritized the welfare of the people. “Burmohan Tripura’s commitment to public service and the development of Korbuk will always be remembered. His demise is a great loss to the state,” he said.

Chowdhury also extended his condolences to the bereaved family and acknowledged the void left behind by the veteran leader’s passing.

Burmohan Tripura’s life and service stand as a testament to sincere public leadership, and his legacy will continue to inspire the people of Tripura, especially in the Korbuk constituency. Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced soon by the family.
