Agartala: May 11: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] held its first state committee meeting in Agartala on Sunday following the 24th Party Congress. The meeting took place at the party's state office and was marked by the presence of CPI(M) Central Committee General Secretary M.A. Baby, who was on his maiden visit to Tripura after assuming the party’s top position.

The high-level meeting was also attended by senior leaders including Leader of the Opposition and CPI(M) Politburo member Jitendra Choudhury, former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, and several other prominent figures from the party's state and central leadership.

This crucial gathering focused on analyzing the prevailing national political scenario and evaluating its implications for the party’s strategy moving forward. A major portion of the discussions centered around strengthening the organizational structure of CPI(M) in Tripura, a state where the party once held significant influence but has faced challenges in recent years.

Sources indicated that the leadership deliberated on adopting new organizational strategies aimed at revitalizing the party at the grassroots level. Plans for mass outreach campaigns and intensified public movements were considered key to reconnecting with the electorate and countering the ruling BJP’s dominance in the state.

Party leaders expressed optimism that CPI(M)'s presence in Tripura would become more visible and dynamic in the coming days. Emphasis was laid on mobilizing support through issue-based campaigns, community engagement, and robust opposition to what the party described as the anti-democratic practices of the current state government.

The meeting is seen as a step towards reviving the party’s political fortunes in Tripura and reaffirming its commitment to democratic values, secularism, and social justice.
