Agartala: Feb 22: A BJP party office in Sutaramura, within the Chailam Assembly constituency, was set on fire by unidentified individuals around 2 AM on Friday. The local fire department from Bishramganj responded to the incident, but the office was completely destroyed before the fire could be controlled.
Locals speculate that the attack may be linked to growing tensions over "nigo" (illegal) trade in the Chailam constituency. The ongoing conflicts between the ruling party and its allies have reportedly fueled unrest, with illegal trade being a central issue.
The police from Bishramganj police station have launched an investigation into the cause of the incident. However, the situation remains tense, with concerns that the larger conflict over illegal trade could lead to more serious incidents. The growing friction in the Chailam Assembly constituency may have deeper political and economic implications, leaving the local population on edge.
This incident is not an isolated one, as there have been previous reports of political violence and intimidation in Tripura, including attacks on opposition party offices and supporters .
