Suniti, a resident of the ONGC Netaji Nagar area under Amtali police station, was reportedly under stress due to financial and personal challenges. She had taken out a bank loan to build a house, and her husband, Debdulal Sarkar, a home guard working in the secretariat, expressed concerns that her death might be a result of suicide.
