ICAR Tripura Promotes Integrated Farming for Farmers' Welfare

The Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR), Tripura Centre, Lembucherra, has organized a three-day training program aimed at implementing the concept of integrated farming to benefit farmers in the state. The program, which focuses on integrated farming practices involving livestock, fish, vegetables, and oilseeds, has been held with the support of the Bagma Agri Producer Company Limited (BAPCL).As part of the training, essential agricultural inputs such as piglets, fingerlings, vegetable seeds, mushroom spawn, and chicks have been distributed among farmers at Bagma Community Hall. In addition, medicinal supplements, including mineral mixtures and deworming agents, have also been provided to ensure the well-being of the animals and crops.Dr. Burhan U Chowdhury, Head of the Regional Centre, ICAR Tripura, has welcomed all the dignitaries who have attended the program. Among the notable guests were Farukul Islam, CEO of BAPCL, S.R. Baruah, Former Agricultural Officer at ICAR, Dr. Mrinmoy Datta, Former Joint Director of ICAR, Dr. K.K. Sathpathy, Former Director of the National Institute of Natural Fiber Engineering and Technology, and Jitendra Majumder, MLA, along with other esteemed guests.The dignitaries have focused on the importance of integrated farming techniques, stressing that these methods can help increase farmers' income significantly. They have emphasized that with integrated farming, farmers in Tripura can double their income by utilizing a more diversified approach to agriculture.Farmers have expressed their satisfaction with the training and the valuable agricultural knowledge they have gained, particularly regarding integrated farming methods. They have also shown gratitude for the input materials provided by ICAR, which they believe will contribute significantly to improving their farming practices.
