Agartala: Feb 22: Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha recently addressed the media about GST evasion in Tripura, emphasizing that technological advancements have made it nearly impossible to evade GST. He stated, "Given the technological progress in the country, no one will be able to evade GST, even if they try" .

 

Dr. Saha highlighted the importance of GST in generating financial resources for the state's development. To ensure proper GST collection, the government has implemented various technological measures, which will benefit not only the state but also contribute to the nation's overall progress.

The Chief Minister emphasized that this system will help strengthen Tripura's economy, aligning with the country's broader economic growth. He also stressed the importance of improving the GST collection process and integrating modern technologies to enhance its efficiency.

These advancements are crucial for strengthening the state's economy, ensuring transparency, and improving revenue collection. The effective implementation of these measures will help the government channel more funds into public welfare and infrastructure development, ultimately fostering the state's overall progress and development.

In fact, Tripura has started using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to identify tax evaders and will take action against them . The state's annual budget for the 2024-25 financial year is ₹27,800 crore, with its own revenue standing at ₹3,700 crore .
