College of Agriculture in Tripura Hosts Field Day on Kharif Onion Cultivation

The College of Agriculture, Tripura, Lembucherra, in collaboration with NABARD, Tripura Regional Office, and BAPCL, Bagma, organized a 'Field Day' on Kharif onion cultivation. The event, held on January 29, 2025, aimed to raise awareness and encourage progressive farmers in Tripura about the economic benefits of Kharif onion cultivation.The primary objective of the event was to promote Kharif onion farming for the socio-economic upliftment of the rural farming community in Tripura. A total of 80 progressive farmers from West Tripura, Khowai, Sepahijala, and Gomati districts attended the event at the College of Agriculture, Tripura, Lembucherra.The Chief Guest, Anil S Kotmire, General Manager, NABARD, Agartala, urged farmers to grow Kharif onions alongside other crops to enhance their income. The Special Guest, Md. Farukul Islam, CEO, BAPCL, Bagma, appreciated the efforts made by the College of Agriculture, Tripura, Lembucherra, in popularizing Kharif onion cultivation among farmers.Prof. Dabashish Sen, Principal of the College of Agriculture, Tripura, Lembucherra, presided over the program as Chairman. He motivated farmers to adopt Kharif onion cultivation and assured them of continuous support for onion farming.The attending farmers expressed their satisfaction with their production and brought their produce to showcase to the dignitaries. They were pleased with the insights gained from the program and looked forward to future support and initiatives.
