Agartala: Feb 18: Biplab Kumar Deb, the former Chief Minister and current Member of Parliament, has slammed the opposition, particularly the CPI(M), for skipping the recent "Disha" meeting in West Tripura. The meeting, attended by department officials, aimed to review the central government's schemes and their implementation by the state government.
Deb criticized the CPI(M) for not attending the meeting despite being invited, calling them "representatives of a different world" . He also pointed out that the CPI(M) only managed to secure a few seats in the state assembly by forming an alliance with the Congress during the last election. Deb suggested that without this alliance, the CPI(M) would have become politically irrelevant in the state.
Deb further claimed that the opposition's actions, which he described as unconstitutional, would lead to the loss of their seats in future elections. He emphasized that the state government is working hard to implement central government plans effectively and expressed confidence that their approach would continue to win the people's trust.
It's worth noting that Deb has been vocal about his criticism of the CPI(M) in the past. For instance, he recently advised newly settled Bru voters to ask the CPI(M) why they were referred to as refugees in their own country during the left rule in Tripura.
