Agartala: Feb 18: A subdivision-based sports talent search was held on Tuesday in Mohanpur, marking a significant step in nurturing young athletes. The competition took place at the Kamalghat Higher Secondary School ground in Kamalghat, Mohanpur subdivision, and was inaugurated by Minister Ratan Lal Nath. The event featured selected schoolboy players from the Mohanpur Municipal Council and four block areas of the Mohanpur subdivision.
This sports competition was organized jointly by the Youth Welfare and Sports Department, the Tripura School Sports Board, and in cooperation with the Mohanpur Panchayat Samiti. The inaugural function saw the presence of key dignitaries, including Mohanpur Municipal Council Chairman Anita Debnath, Bamutia Panchayat Samiti Chairman Deepak Kumar Sinha, Mohanpur Panchayat Samiti Chairman Rakesh Deb, and Youth Welfare and Sports Department Joint Director Paimong Mog, among others.
During his address, Minister Ratan Lal Nath emphasized the importance of the initiative, stating that the selected participants from the subdivision level competition would advance to the district level, and those chosen at the district level would compete at the state level. He highlighted that this was a fresh initiative, noting that no such platform had been provided in the past. He stressed the role of children in shaping the future of the nation and urged parents to actively engage in their children's development. Minister Nath encouraged parents not to merely send their children to school but to take an active interest in their progress. He also pointed out the collective responsibility of society in nurturing children into well-rounded individuals.
The competition serves as a stepping stone for young athletes to showcase their talents, and the Minister’s remarks underscored the need for holistic development, involving not just schools but also families and communities in the growth of the next generation.
