Agartala: Feb 16: The Mata Tripura Sundari Temple's redevelopment work, initiated under the BJP government's Prasad project, is nearing completion. Minister Sushanta Chowdhury announced that either Prime Minister Narendra Modi or Union Home Minister Amit Shah will likely inaugurate the newly reconstructed temple in March. This follows Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha's meeting with PM Modi in Delhi, where he extended an invitation for the inauguration .

The Central Government has allocated approximately Rs 38 crore for the project, supplemented by Rs 7 crore from the state government. The redevelopment aims to boost religious tourism in the region.

Moreover, the government plans to transform Tripura's tourist centers with the help of the Government of India and the Asian Development Bank. New infrastructure, including guest houses, log huts, and an ultra-modern park, will be built at Sonamukhi under Unakoti at a cost of Rs 70 crore. The government also aims to develop eco-tourism by utilizing the three islands of Dombar reservoir. These projects are expected to be completed within the next one to one and a half years.
