Agartala:  Dec 22: Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman condemned Union Home Minister Amit Shah's derogatory remarks about Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, calling them an attack on democratic values and an attempt to undermine the rights of scheduled castes. Barman accused the BJP of trying to divide the country and deprive marginalized communities of their rights.

He criticized the BJP's attempt to deflect attention from Shah's comments by falsely accusing Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of assaulting a BJP MP. Barman emphasized that such attempts to change the narrative won't work and that the BJP's comments aim to undermine democracy and weaken national unity.

In response, Barman announced that the Congress party will organize a "Long March" in every district on December 24 to protest Shah's remarks and honor Dr. Ambedkar. The protests will include floral tributes at Ambedkar's statues, and Barman urged all democratic forces and citizens to join in condemning Shah's comments. The protests will continue until Shah apologizes and Prime Minister Modi takes action against him.
