Agartala: Feb 15: In a significant development in a case filed under the Arms Act at Sidhai Police Station in December, police have recovered a 7mm pistol and an empty magazine from the Jagatpur area. The investigation, which began last year, led to the arrest of three individuals—Rajkumar Debnath, Palash Pal, and another suspect—from Jagatpur. However, initial searches of their homes yielded no firearms.

Following their arrest, Rajkumar Debnath was placed in police remand, during which he reportedly confessed to the possession of a weapon. Acting on this lead, police conducted a search at Debnath's residence on Saturday, where they recovered the 7mm pistol along with the magazine.

The authorities are continuing to investigate the origins of the firearm and its potential use in criminal activities. The recovered weapon is an important piece of evidence in the ongoing case. Police have remanded the accused individuals in custody for three days while they continue their inquiries.

The recovery of the weapon is seen as a significant breakthrough in the investigation, as it provides a tangible link to the arms-related offense. Authorities are now focusing on gathering more information about the weapon’s source and whether it was intended for use in any illegal activities.
