Today was the last day to submit nominations in Tripura. Tripura's Chief Electoral Officer claimed that 228 nominations were filed in a single day today, an all-time record. In a press conference this evening, he said, this work has been made possible with the cooperation of all political parties. Candidates filed their nominations in an orderly manner everywhere.

On this day, he said, all arrangements were made in the offices of 60 returning officers so that all political parties and independent candidates could submit their nominations smoothly in Tripura. His preparation was going on for the last 3/4 days. Today all the candidates submitted their nominations without any hassle, he claimed.

He claimed that there were no complaints regarding obstruction of candidates, deterioration of law and order situation across the state. As a result, the nomination papers of all the candidates who came to submit their nominations till 3 pm have been accepted. According to him, 77 candidates had filed their nominations in Tripura till January 27. Today 228 candidates submitted their nominations in one day. He claims that so many nominations have never been submitted in one day before.

According to him, the candidates of all the political parties have successfully submitted their nomination today. Separate timings and separate routes were arranged for them. As such candidates have submitted their nominations. On this day, he said, this time a total of 305 candidates have submitted their nominations. The nomination papers will be checked tomorrow. February 2 is the last day for withdrawal of nominations. After that the picture of the candidates will be clear. According to him, 297 candidates contested in the assembly elections in 2018. Meanwhile, 25 observers have arrived in Tripura yesterday to observe the nomination paper examination phase. They will ensure that the nomination papers are examined in accordance with the guidelines of the Election Commission. Besides, 8 police observers and 3 special observers have arrived in Tripura. They are monitoring the election work. The Chief Electoral Officer of Tripura claimed that personal security guards have been provided to all the candidates who have submitted their nominations.
