Tripura Shines with Prestigious Awards at Prime Minister’s Excellence Ceremony

Agartala: April 21: Tripura marked a moment of pride as two of its districts received the prestigious Prime Minister's Excellence Award 2024. The awards were presented by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a ceremony held at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi.
Tarit Kanti Chakma, District Magistrate and Collector of Gomati District, was honored in the "Overall Development of Districts" category for exemplary efforts in holistic district development. Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha congratulated Chakma and his team, calling it a proud moment for the state.
In another significant achievement, the Ganganagar Block of Dhalai District was recognized under the "Aspirational Block Program" category. Saju Wahid, District Magistrate and Collector of Dhalai, accepted the award on behalf of the block. A presentation showcased Ganganagar’s transformational journey—highlighting key milestones such as connecting over 2,200 households to the CHG network, ensuring 100% distribution of revolving funds, building 1,600 houses, and achieving universal coverage of supplementary nutrition for pregnant women. Additionally, the block has made remarkable strides in digital education, with the installation of e-learning boards in schools.
According to the PIB, the Prime Minister's Excellence Award scheme celebrates innovative and impactful governance initiatives by districts and organizations across the country. For the 2024 edition, three categories were prioritized: (a) Overall Development of Districts, (b) Aspirational Block Program, and (c) Innovation. From 1,588 nominations, 14 awardees were selected after rigorous evaluation.
Award recipients receive a trophy, a scroll, and an incentive fund of ₹20 lakh, to be utilized for implementation of public welfare initiatives or bridging resource gaps.
Tripura’s recognition underscores its ongoing commitment to good governance and inclusive development.
