Agartala: April 20: Tension gripped the Nandalal Das Para area near the India-Bangladesh border after two Bangladeshi nationals were reportedly detained from a nearby forest. The incident occurred when local residents noticed the two individuals behaving suspiciously near the border and alleged that they had entered Indian territory with the intention of stealing cattle.
Acting on suspicion, locals confronted the individuals and subsequently detained them. In a tense and emotional response, the duo was assaulted by some residents, even as Border Security Force (BSF) personnel were present at the scene. Although the identities of the detained individuals are yet to be officially confirmed, authorities suspect they are Bangladeshi nationals who crossed the border illegally.
Upon receiving news of the incident, officers from Sidai police station quickly arrived at the location. They brought the situation under control and took both individuals into custody. The police have since launched an investigation and are interrogating the suspects to determine their identities and motives.
The incident has sparked concern among local residents, many of whom are now demanding enhanced security and round-the-clock surveillance along the border to prevent illegal crossings and suspected criminal activity. Community members voiced frustration, saying that such incidents not only pose a security risk but also cause fear and unrest in the border areas.
Meanwhile, the BSF is reportedly preparing a detailed report on the incident, which is likely to be forwarded to higher authorities for further action. As investigations continue, both the police and BSF have urged the public to remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement to ensure peace and order in the region.
