Agartala, Apr. 18: Two Bangladesh nationals who were about to board a Kolkata bound train, were arrested from Agartala railway station, police said on Friday.

Two Bangladesh citizens identified as Nadia Akhtar (19) and Rupali Akhtar (38) of Bangladesh’s Barisal district were scheduled to go Mumbai via Kolkata.

“Based on a specific input, a joint team of GRP, police and BSF carried out a special operation at Agartala railway station on Thursday and apprehended two suspected Bangladesh women who were about to board a Kolkata bound train”, Officer in Charge (OC), Agartala GRP police station, Tapas Das told the reporters.

He said the duo during interrogation confessed they had entered Indian territory (Tripura) two-day back without any valid document and had plan to go Mumbai from Kolkata.

“Both were arrested for entering Tripura without passport or any valid document. We are looking for those who had helped two Bangladesh nationals in entering into the state to go to Mumbai. All those who are involved in the case will be arrested”, he said.

The arrested two foreign nationals were produced before a local court on Friday seeking police remand for intense interrogation.
