Two drug traffickers from Karimganj, who escaped from Assam, were arrested in Mizoram

Police have arrested two most wanted drug smugglers absconding from Assam in Mizoram. The arrested have been identified as Sajid Ahmed, 29-year-old son of Khiru Uddin and Abdul Matin, 37-year-old son of Qasim Ali, residents of Keuti village in Karimganj district respectively. Both were arrested from Serkaun in Mizoram's Lunglei district on Tuesday.

According to sources at the district police headquarters, a case has been registered against Sajid Ahmed and Abdul Mateen under Section 22 (C)/29 of NDPS at Dhalai Police Station under Cachar district of Assam.

It is known that the police team is coming to take custody of two most wanted drug smugglers from Assam's Dhalai police station.

Incidentally, the source also said that on January 29, the Mizoram Police had arrested two people from Lalsavunga Park in Hlimen on charges of drug smuggling. Those arrested that day were Hallam of Chunnengi of Assam and Henry Ranglong of Meghalaya. Acting on a tip-off, the raiding team of CID (SB) recovered 3.171 kg of ganja from the custody of Halam in Chunnengi.
