Victim’s family approaches Human Rights Commission demanding the arrest of accused

Agartala: Feb 16: About two months ago, Minal Kanti Barman, a resident of Masterpara in Melaghar, set his wife, Haimanti Sinha Barman, on fire. Their minor daughter and minor son witnessed the incident. Haimanti Sinha Barman was taken to the hospital in critical condition, where she later died.
Following the incident, a case was filed at Melaghar police station by Haimanti Sinha Barman's family. The police arrested two people but were unable to arrest the main accused, Minal Kanti Barman.
Haimanti Sinha Barman's family members approached the Human Rights Commission demanding the arrest of Minal Kanti Barman. However, the state administration has not yet apprehended the accused.
Two months after the incident, Haimanti Sinha Barman's minor daughter, minor son, and their relatives held a silent procession from Minal Kanti Barman's house in Melaghar Masterpara. The procession circled the Melaghar market and ended in front of the Melaghar police station, where they filed a written complaint demanding the immediate arrest of Minal Kanti Barman and bringing him to justice.
Melaghar police station has stated that they are making every effort to arrest Minal Kanti Barman. However, they are having difficulty locating him as his mobile number is currently switched off. The police have received information that he is currently in Chennai and have assured that he will be arrested very soon.
