Agartala: Dec 15: On Sunday, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha laid the foundation stone for eight new projects worth ₹146 crores in Udaipur subdivision, emphasizing the development efforts under the current government. Addressing the gathering, he criticized the previous Left Front government for its failure to take meaningful action over the past 35 years. “Tripura was self-reliant from the beginning, but the previous government did nothing, only shouting slogans,” he said, noting that due to the stagnation under their leadership, many factories in the state had shut down.

The new projects will significantly enhance infrastructure and educational facilities in the region. Among the notable initiatives, ₹44 crores will be allocated for the Udaipur Municipal Corporation, Town Hall, and a multi-storey commercial building, which will include a basement parking zone. ₹40 crores will be spent on a new science building at Netaji Subhas Mahavidyalaya, and ₹8.24 crores will go toward the development of Vichitra Hall and a new building for Ramesh School. Additionally, ₹5.79 crores will be invested in installing synthetic turf at Ramesh School’s ground. Other projects include the construction of a high-quality motor stand at Rajarbag for ₹10 crores, a 200-bed youth hostel adjacent to Bhagini Nivedita School with an allocation of ₹16.24 crores, and ₹24 crores for the District Magistrate's office.

Dr. Saha also inaugurated the newly constructed pucca building of Gamaria School, costing ₹1.87 crores. In his speech, he further criticized the Left Front for slow progress, stating that had they acted sooner, the current government could have focused on other areas. Additionally, he proposed making Udaipur, Dharmanagar, and Agartala satellite towns to address urban challenges and improve infrastructure. He also countered opposition claims of unrest, asserting that any disruptions would be swiftly addressed by the government.

Finance Minister Pranjit Singh Roy was also present at the event.
