Indian Army Commemorates 53rd Vijay Diwas with Grandeur at Albert Ekka War Memorial in Agartala

In a magnificent tribute to valour and sacrifice, the Indian Army commemorated the 53rd Vijay Diwas, marking India’s decisive victory in the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War, with a series of heartwarming events at the iconic Albert Ekka War Memorial in Agartala, Tripura. Tripura was the place from where Indian Army launched major offensive campaigns and operations during Liberation War and local population supported the cause. The atmosphere was charged with patriotism as the nation paid homage to the brave soldiers who laid down their lives for the country.The highlight of this solemn occasion was a poignant wreath-laying ceremony led by the Hon'ble Governor of Tripura, Indra Sena Reddy Nallu. Joined by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) Red Shield Division and distinguished officials from the Indian Army, the ceremony served as a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by our gallant soldiers.As part of the celebrations, an exchange of sweets  took place between the Indian and Bangladesh forces at Akhaura Integrated Check Post (ICP), symbolizing unity and goodwill between two nations.Adding to the festivities, a remarkable cycling expedition titled "Pedalling Patriots: II" was also conducted. The expedition was flagged off by Lt Gen Abhijit S Pendharkar, AVSM, YSM, GOC 3 Corps from Dimapur on 02 December 2024, in the presence of Indian Army officials, veterans, Veer Naris, and NCC cadets. This expedition covered over 500 kilometers through three states before reaching its final destination in Agartala, Tripura. Along their journey, the cyclists engaged with local communities, honoring veterans and Veer Naris while providing essential medical assistive devices like wheelchairs and walking sticks to those in need.The evening culminated in a grand cultural program attended by Dr Manik Saha Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tripura, state government officials, and Indian Army representatives at the Albert Ekka War Memorial. The event showcased the indomitable spirit and eternal sacrifice of our soldiers, igniting a fervor of patriotism among attendees. The Hon'ble Chief Minister honoured veterans from Tripura who participated in the 1971 operations and distributed prizes to children who excelled in various competitions held as part of the Vijay Diwas celebrations. His speech resonated with gratitude for our martyrs and highlighted the pivotal role played by the Indian Army.The event concluded with a heartfelt barakhana shared with ex-servicemen (ESMs) and troops from Agartala, reinforcing community bonds and appreciation for service.This grand celebration not only honoured our heroes but also instilled a renewed sense of pride and commitment to uphold their legacy among all present
